yes i did notice the DE motor and z32 in his write up. i didnt think there was that much difference between the two as far as horsepower.. so like if russ did all he did to the vg30 to the DE how much more horse are we really talking? enough to make a damn difference?
86 NA auto 2+2 with 300k miles, now turbo with 5 speed

My buddy has a 92 NA Z32 with the biggest NA JWT cams and springs, UR pulley, APS light weight segmented flywheel, stock rods and pistons, Stillen headers, no cats, HKS hi-power exhaust, Z1 ecu tune, JWT pop-charger air filter, AIV and EGR delete, PCV reroute, AC and PS delete, fresh timing belt/oil pump/water pump and only makes 219whp. That's on stock bottom end and original headgaskets with 237k miles on the engine and has a small oil consumption problem. Add all the prices above to see if you want to go thru the hassle of building a DE NA motor and still be slower than a Z31 turbo or NA2T with a boost controller.

forge the bottom, all as light as possible, and balanced as much as possible and 13-1 on pump gas, if you can spend alot more on the fuel system go alcohol, and 15-1 compression… than porting and polishing, large amounts of porting and polishing, don't skimp there, and the oversized valves will help alot… huge cams, stud everything, full ignition upgrade (super hot coils), stand alone engine management, custom intake manifolds, equal length large diameter runner headers (maybe even stepped, to save torque, and build the high hp), then feel the rush of 300+ whp then spray the ever living hell out of it...... If you spent all the same amount, then add 1500 for a good turbo, 700+ all day long..... with no spray, to each his own...... almost forgot, if you spray nitrous, some would say to stay away from alcohol for fuel, as it would be too much cooling to rapidly of the cylinders....... the more you do the less streetable it will be..,..a z31 with a sohc turbo could beat the pants off the vg30de with no nitrous..... with the built de, and stock long block sohc turbo..... but you would be unique as all get up!! good luck with whatever you do....

    what'd I do wrong,
not be a sarcastic stick like you? Not make comments of spending outlandish amounts of cash so I make reasonable things to do to the build for it to work well, not mock him? which of the things did I lack doing the most? I thought these forums were here to help people, not make them feel alienated..... Are you a car guy, and just always a dick, or only when someone wants to do something unique??? For some reason this is the road he decided to travel, so encourage it, not discourage…

hes not questioning which motor to build. he's wondering what to do to the vg30de. If he already has the enigne and feels money is no object, to what extent? if it truely is unlimited, what zfats said with all the titanium one off stuff would be the way to go, but I think more reasonable itmes might be the way to go.....
