Need to lengthen my driveshaft....

  • Need to lengthen my driveshaft....

I'm in the process of doing an automatic to manual swap on my 84 Z (2+2), and my parts car was an 85 coupe with the FS5W71C manual transmission. I know I'm going to need to get the driveshaft lengthened (searched all my local junkyards, no Zs to be found, sadly), but I was wondering if there were any other changes that need to be made to the driveshaft. I read on here ( http://www.xenonz31.com/Driveshaftinfo.html ) and it seems like there are no differences in the flange. Any help or advice with this would be appreciated. ^_______^

oh! btw, both are non-turbo models.

Same, post a WTB, have yours lengthened, or have a new one made… whatever your budget allows.

any 84-86 2+2 manual drive shaft will be a direct fit. It shouldn't be to hard to find one.

I couldn't get any driveshaft shop to lengthen one, because theyre metric sized tube. I had a brand new driveshaft made for my swap by shaftmasters.

    +1 on shaftmasters.
Incredible customer services. They know all Nissan terminology in regards to models, transmission, and diffs.

When I talked to Dave @ shaftmasters, I told him of my custom transmission to subframe swap utilizing the 350z r200, and all Dave said was "now thats freaking cool!".

    Product was fantastic.

The box it came in is probably as strong as the stock driveshaft, let alone the new 3" shaft with awesome easily-replaceable ujoints. haha I kind of wish I went aluminum, though.

Looks like xenonz31's images aren't showing up on his site anymore.....anyone have a link to the different measurements on the driveshafts?

They reworked their website, but I think most of the info is still there… use this link to get to main page, then hover over the drop-down menu for Z31 at the top:

I think the specs you're looking for are here:
