Getting New Tires.

  • Getting New Tires.

Okay so i need tires for the Riken 16x8" for it to fit in wells. These are the tires on it right now. 255/50/16

The tires need to be scaled down.

    I was thinking of 225/50.

I was also thinking of 205/50. I really don't want much of a stretch at all. Maybe the littlest if i have to to fit them.

By the way wheels will be polished and the centers gloss black.

Is 205 even considered a stretch for 8 inch width wheels? I know its ungodly wide on 6 and 6.5 inch wheels I'd probably go for 225 though, wide is good.

    Bump. Anyone's opinion?

I wouldn't go any narrower than 225's, but that's just me. I actually want to replace my 225/50's in the rear with 255/50's to get a little more rubber on the ground.

My 255/50's are too big for my situation. I'd sell em to you if you were close for a good deal. They're practically brand new.

Decided to go with Dunlop 215/45/16

Thanks for ALL the comments. Really helped the decision.

just saw this post… I have 215/55r16 falkens going on my 16x8 bbs wheels. (this size is the correct size so the speedo wont change)

215/45r16's are going to be too small. They measure close to 23.5" tall. Stock tire height is right around 25". Your speedo will read faster than you are actually going.

So not 215/50? I need a pretty low profile tire to clear.

  • #12
My front are 225/50/16 and fit fine.

check out the website i posted above and decide what is right for you. Enter the tires you have on the wheels now with offset, and use the deal to figure out what you need to clear. It will give you dimensions and everything using offset.

215/50's will work, but your speedo will be off some.

My wheels also have a negative offset of -5 and have IC piping to get around, and to clear the fender.
