Hood vents/mod ideas?

  • Hood vents/mod ideas?

Well, I need a new hood on my 85 Z31 turbo.

I may have a plain 86 NA hood lined up, but I dont know what to do with it. I was thinking of some real hood vents (This thing gets hot; Im sure most of yours do :P) or something but I dont know what would work well, as far as design and placement. Has anyone done a vent/hood mod? What about a cowl induction on a stock hood?

Screamingflea has made a cowl induc hood out of a stock hood, but then stopped making it halfway through. Look up the thread. A lot of people have done vents. 280zxt vents look nice.

What vents are those? Did he have to weld in or did something like bondo work?

I did find something, though, not sure how it would look…

    3" high,
    26" long,
    16" wide.

I *think* it could turn out okay, and best of all, its a simple install it looks like.

There is a longer one, but I think 44" is a bit too long :P

you should do it while making it functional not just for looks because it can actually effect radiator/intercooler efficiencies and make it even worse rather then improving function.

    read these.

    food for thought.

he gives me shit all the time about the money i spend on my car but he simply doenst understand what type of "high" you get from watching a stock car transform into something alive with as much emotion and feelings as any human.

How about the 82-83 280ZX NACA duct (driver's side) and hood vent (passenger side)? I was going to do this one on my 2006 350Z GT but sold the car. I think it would look sick......
