How much was your paint job?

  • How much was your paint job?

I'm considering getting my z31 painted to a different color and was wondering how much a good paint job typically runs for this car? I spoke with a local guy about a year ago and if I remember correctly he quoted me ~$3,500. My two reasons behind getting it painted is it still has the original paint job and I want a different color. The current paint job has nearly lost all its clear coat and the paint is chipping causing little rust spots all around the car.

IMO, color change only looks good if you pull the motor and do the engine bay, under the hood, door jambs, t-top channels and hatch jamb.

I always try to repaint with the original color even if it means that I first buy a car with a color I like. Having said that, I just had my Shiro painted and body work done for $3400 at Maaco.

I agree, the previous owner of my car repainted it yellow. I could probably be okay with the current paint job, only the engine bay, door jambs, t tops, hatch area, and basically everything not on the exterior of the car is not body color. Not only that, it is old and also looks like crap. So now I have to either pay the money to get it properly repainted or sell it to someone who really likes the yellow.

Check out www.rolledon.com I painted my car for $100 and it's held up for the last 3 years. People can't believe I used a roller brush to paint.
Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead.

    This.
And with that comes more time in prep work and time=$$$, unless you do the prep work yourself.

Or just pick a color that goes nicely with the previous color in the door jambs and whatnot. My paint job was 1200$, half for paint and half for body work and it turned out pretty nice.
