Firewall Heater Grommet Part # ?


  • Firewall Heater Grommet Part # ?

    What is the Part Code or Part Number for this Part?
    I searched the Fiche (thanks Paul) Fiche 3-N8, Section 271C and 3-F8,
    Section 270C and every drawing in the Fiche catalog (which I have printed in a binder) with no results.

    Warning for those that don't know, like me. DO NOT touch this part with a tool
    it WILL disintegrate. The rubber is totally fried.
    I'm painting the engine compartment.
    Now I have to replace it if I can find one.

    92565-01P00.
    Found it on Xenon Z31's "replacing the heater core" page.
    1986 300ZX factory Turbo 2+2 5 speed swap. 1985 Toyota MR2. Floor boards gone. Good fabrication practice.

    I remember it being NLA… but someone said a corolla or other toy uses the same kinda thing

    You might try a wtb ad

    Thanks. The having the Part # 92565-01P00 has been very helpful. The Code number is 27715E. It is not listed in the 1994 fiche but by Googling the Part # I found it listed at nissanpartszone.com as no longer available from "Nissan North America but may be still available in some Nissan warehouse".

    I image searched Grommet Heater for both Nissan and Toyota and found similar look parts for:

    Z32

    Land Cruiser 64-84


    Hopefully Tim will have luck with his parts car. If he can get it out in one piece, I can make a mold of it.
    I'm sure anyone changing their heater core will need one.

    Have you played around with foam rubber casting?

    Just an idea, but look up the part number for the heater core then see what other cars use the same heater core. Those same cars could possibly also use the same or very similarly sized rubber grommet.

    I pulled one off a 2001 (pretty sure that was the year Toyota Corolla) in a parts yard. It is an exact fit. The groove cut into the grommet rides perfectly along the hole in the firewall, and the holes for the pipes are placed correctly and fit nice and tight. If I didn't know any better, I'd say it was a Nissan factory part. Credit goes to Z_Karma for the discovery.

    I was able to boost the levels in a couple of engine bay pics I took so you can see how it fits…

    There are actually two of them, one fits in the body, the other on the heater core outlets.

    I have not used it in rigid molds. I have used flexible foam for poured in place custom shipping containers for my ceramic sculpture.
    The trick is to inject the correct amount to allow for expansion for the desired density and venting for any over expansion.

    Cool, I've played around with the bagged shipping foam a little so I understand, but foam rubber seemed to be a little more finicky

    BTW I do sculptures too, but I would make a lump to carve, originally all in clay, but then I switched to soapstone (which doubles the time) because I found some awesome materials, my favourite being a limey green-yellow soapstone from brazil, when oiled it looks similar to jade or some green marble

    I bought the Toyota Corolla part (90480-01405) and it's a perfect fit.

    That's a good thing to note! If we can't get our parts anymore, it's a good thing we can get something pretty much identical still.
