300ZR headlight lenses

  • 300ZR headlight lenses

UP Garage near Tacoma used to import JDM front clips all the time and Doug Smith still has a few parts laying around. he asked me if I might be interested in these 300ZR headlight assemblies for my Shiro.

The pattern on the glass looks different.

I would guess that the lens fluting would be different on account of the opposing traffic and how the beams are supposed to direct the light.....

I would also guess that there would be no DOT label anywhere on the lens.
Being for Japanese market only they would supposedly never make it here to North America.
They would probably be 'approved' by whatever Japanese Government Agency approves stuff over there though......

    Cool find.

The real question is, does he have any JDM 84-86 headlight assemblies? Cool find.

There are two headlight "standards" if I recall correctly, ECE and DOT. The noticeable difference is that ECE headlights have a reversed step in the beam. In the USA, DOT (LHD) headlamps have a step that goes from the left and up to right. This lowers the beam on the side of oncoming traffic. ECE (RHD) headlamps the step goes from the right up to left since they drive on the opposite side of the road.

Not sure about inspection standards, but you might fail since they test the headlights.

One would think you could switch and flip sides possibly. Basically l to r ,then flip 180.
    Hmmm, Whats next?

actually, JDM lenses are same to UK lenses (and AUS).
but, if you want to swap.... ehmmm, buckets are also different.
