I believe all the VG33 powered Pathfinders/Frontiers/Xterras came with the 30A. Also i'm pretty sure some of the VG30 Hardbodys could come with the FS5R30A as well.

Anyone know the difference between the FS5R30A and FS5R30B transmissions?
Wd21(95 and earlier) pathy got the 30A also

If you follow the z32 install guide it will be the same for the pathy r30a. They're the same length and the mount is in the same location.

Shifter is gonna be 4" off.... But drive shaft needs 4" longer.... I just may find myself a different intake (ala pathfinder, that I have sitting right here), and us ethe headers I just bought And slide the engine back 4 inches.... then until I do the s13 rear swap I could use the factory shaft too..... I think I may like the end result.....

the hardbody KA24 71C is in fact a WEAKER! transmission and the dimensions

    Overall length: 30.5"

Bellhousing to center of trans crossmember bolt hole: 22"

    Bellhousing to shifter plate: 22"

    the 71C is 36" long.

    Which parts specifically are weaker?

This thread is about the 30A, though. And its well known that the newer *240SX* 71Cs are stronger…as for the Hardbody 71C, it wouldn't surprise me if it were the same. How did you determine its weaker by dimensions?

So you mean i dont have to pay "exotic japanese car" tax on a 30a now? Thank god.... My 71c has the infamous second gear grind so bad i'm certain my "used to be clean internally" gearbox has metal shavings in the penzoil now.... I'll give this a go. 2dr 5 speed a rare find though. Most are auto/4wd that i come across.
vg30'd s13 in progress. Shocks. Pegs. Lucky.

i took them both apart the gearing on the hard body 71c is phyiscally shorter not the gearing the gears them selfs 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th are all weakers.

4th gear on Z31 71C is 22mm in length and the hardbody is 19.7xmm in length (the length from front to the rear.)

Size does not always indicate weakness.

So? Take a look at most transmissions. A bike is a good example. The older bikes (say 1970s CB750) have massive gears, very very thick and heavy, but the engines only make about 67 horsepower. Then there's the new bikes, an example would be a Kawi litre bike. They have very very thin gears in the transmission, yet are making about 197 horse. The gears are made differently to allow it to be stronger and not just strip when you dump the clutch at 9k. Simple as that. Material and treatment.
