Anyone ever fri an engine ECU by hitting the battery kill switch while the engine is running?

no. that is just like your battery dying. it wouldnt fry the ecu.

Well, the ECU doesent work anymore and smells like smoke.

then your cut of switch isn't a cut off switch. it's more of a "damage electronics immediately by shorting out a power wire" switch.

Maybe it could just be called the FRY ECU switch instead. Your name for it is kinda long and would be hard to fit on the label for the switch.

I'd say so. it modified the ECU's performance "working" to "not working".

meh. i've done worse, ECU isn't a big deal. they're pretty cheap compared to many other parts.
