    I'll make a heat shield.

It is not recommended to confirm proper installation by driving into walls or other barriers as this could cause personal injury or damage to the vehicle.

Well, yeah maybe, but i took the weather stripping off the top of the firewall, and put a couple washers in between the hood and hinges to vent a little better

Actually behind the hood is a very high pressure zone at speed. So the pressure zone will try to force into the backside of the engine bay with air coming in from front creating hella pressure under the hood (possible hood bulging or fluttering). If you shim up enought so that you have a slight gap on the sides it would work better at "venting".

It'd cut the heat by a bit. Any heat coating would help, forcing the heat down the pipe to an extent.

So instead of heat shields, I just wrapped the manifolds and crossover pipe in header wrap. Also i rubbed red hi temp silicone all over the wrap, because they recommend their silicone spray but it's stupid expensive . pics in the morn.
