86' 2+2 Hatch Gas Lift Strut Specs?

  • 86' 2+2 Hatch Gas Lift Strut Specs?

I was wondering if anyone knows the specs for the rear hatch lift struts on the 2+2? Been googling and browsing the forums with no avail!
I ended up buying the struts for the 2+0 but obvs they didn't work… Don't want to make the same mistake again!

    Thank you!

    According to liftsupportdepot.com

2+2 (2 manufacturers listed for rear hatch supports)

    non 2+2

not sure on the 86 if you have to drill out the hatch ball stud or cut into the ball socket of the strut to release it.

early models had a welded on stud, later models had a threaded hole for a replaceable stud. 86 may be the earlier style.

I bought mine from Monro advertised as direct replacement about 5 yrs ago.. I think at the time they were $15 each and work great. Actually need some heft to pull them down.I have attached photos. The stock numbers on the Monro site may have changed. They have lifts listed for front and back.

edit: I should have noted that mine is an '86 2+2. Cobwebs!! For shame… getting sloppy in my old age.
