'89 lsd

  • '89 lsd

Might be looking at an LSD from an '89-T, guy wants 300 bucks. Good price, or should I save for an OBX helical?

OBX requires a rebuild out of the box to replace shitty hardware.

A CLSD from an 89 will require a rebuild if you want it to lock decently (new clutch plates can be had).

I would go for the CLSD out of an 89. Make sure it is not a viscous type.

I mainly want it for street driving, no track use. Is 300 a good deal? Should I have a shop rebuild it before I swap the unit?

Also, I have an '86-T 2+2, my rear end should be a 3.54, and '89-T's should have a 3.7, will it be a big difference 0-60, or highway driving (do almost none of that here)

$300 is a very good deal if it isn't beat to shit. They regularly sell for $600-$700.

300 is a great deal. Even if it is beat to crap, you can buy new clutch plates from Gary Savage for ~$100. Just gotta open it up and drop them in there and you'll be set.

If you are rebuilding you can always swap in the 3.54 Ring and Pinion but personally I would keep the 3.7.

I would rebuild with new clutch disks, bearings and seals. Might as well keep it fresh and new.

I'm going obx helical but if I had the option I'd get the clsd.

man, this set (diff and axles) located at Vladivostok (Russia), shipping will be veeeery expensive, excluding ground (sea) shipping, but I think gear set will be for sale (clsd and axles will be inserted into EUDM case with 3.54 ratio)

well, I also get for $100/shipped 200zr hood (not only scoop, assy) and 200zr auto 7blades dual speed fan (OEM set actually -1 4blades dual speed, 1-7blades dual speed into oem bracket)
