So I shouldn't be insulted when I introduce a replacement for a kit that's no longer in production, replenish stock a few times to keep up, and then someone decides to make another directly competing kit?
I picked up where you left off Mike, I tried not to compete with ASCO directly, I don't seem to get the same courtesy… -

The things i consider impolite:
-copy of design without courtesy of asking me about it. Certainly nothing legally wrong but not a gentlemans move.
-making that posting in this specific thread. From a business perspective this is impolite.
A seperate topic all together, but i am also not impressed with the design or quality of your copy. I would not consider it "picking up where i left off". However, probably not worth the breath. based on 1 and 2 above you do not value my opinion."produce first.talk second." -

I think you're confused, I didn't copy your design, there just happens to be a necessary similarity for serving the same function… you may have noticed it's a lot less complicated with a lot less welding required.
I don't understand what you don't like about it, I know you expressed some worry about using hardened pins, but I know 3 people that have stripped threads on your kit for being mild steel so..... -

Up until a week ago, this thread was effectively dead back in 2012, so don't point your fingers too hard… -

Go back a few pages (aka years) and you'll see people moaning about extortion prices for unused kits.
Go back to post #537 and he's already using my components to do his swap because the other kits have stopped changing hands.
Go back just a page to rangerkidd's question about anyone producing them, which only I was…
In short, this stopped being a groub-buy thread long ago and just because it's visible people migrated to it to ask generic questions.
Why was it ok to remind people I sell a kit on the 13th, but not on the 27th? -

I'm going to address this directly - mainly because ASCO was dragged into this.
Paul - you've been very clear in advertising the kit(s) you offer for quite some time. That's why I really didn't have too much interest in offering anything in this line, we have our own fish to fry on the products we are developing in-house for the Z31 and other platforms, and the products we offer for sale currently. We all bring something to the buffet line, and people choose what they want off the buffet with their wallets.
However, by some of the comments that have been posted in various places (Facebook, Z31P WTB thread, etc.) with people wanting the MikeG kit designed as originally offered, all I did was simply ask Mike if he was going to revive his kit. He approached me with an arrangement, and now we have the group buy. I'm confused as to why you didn't do this to be honest? Working with Mike has been super easy, and I'm glad I could collaborate with him on this project.
So no - this is not just "another directly competing kit", this is the original kit as designed by Mike, not a knockoff, redesign, or anything else other than a re-issue of the original.
As for posting your kit advertisement in here after this group buy was announced, that's between you and Mike as this is his original thread and he has a stake in the success of the group buy on this re-issued swap kit. I would say that if I announced product sales on your threads, you'd probably not be thrilled about it though - so I suppose there is that angle to consider. I won't remove the post though.Chicks dig me, rust fears me. -

I'll just end this thread with one thing. I hope I was clear that I wasn't attacking ASCO (perhaps the timing since I just restocked on mine) or the product, I know there are people that chose certain varieties of products for whatever personally held beliefs they have…
I didn't offer a MikeG style unwelded kit because frankly I couldn't see any serious demand over the usual dreamers that don't actually do the swap. Between MikeG's and my kit, there should be at least 60 people with swaps driving around, yet I have only (informally) heard of say 20ish.
The other side of the coin is that most of the people who argued against my kit were people who argued against nearly all of my products, how then do I separate which is serious and which isn't?
Anyway your gb is a success assuming people pay, so good job. -
