Only compatible with late turbo hubs (or modified other)
Needs z32 BMC or equivalent to gain firm pedal

Nice. How much did this setup cost?
If I already have SS Z32 caliper lines can I use them?
    ~$600

    z32 lines will not work

    Thoughts?

I ran this setup previous to my wilwood upgrade. Wilwoods feel much better, dissipate heat better, way lighter.... but a bit over kill for what most people need. The z32 30mm+350z track rotor felt great on the car. Good balance, pedal feel and performance.

Where did you buy the Wilwood parts and rotors from?

Do the Wilwood calipers leave an unused groove on the outside edge of the rotor?

So Vented rear brakes on an 85 Turbo is now possible, Vented Rear brakes on an 85NA will require a completely different setup. I am in discussions with Russ84NA about how we can utilize 88 calipers on an 84- 85NA

Full Write For installation on an 85 Turbo will be made in the next 2-4 Days
    This sounds interesting. Any updates?

Wilwood Calipers, Lines, Pads ~ Touge Factory
Rotors ~ 88rotors (you can buy 350z Track rotors anywhere)
adapter brackets+hardware ~ s13 group buy on another forum

Yes there is an unused portion. However I am sure you can get a two piece rotor with a larger hat size and a smaller ring. I was just using my rotors from the previous setup. Switching to a 2 piece rotor is on my "too do list". There are places out there where you can specify ring size, hat size, bolt pattern ect..... Then you only need to replace the rings in the future.

yeah so I'm like 6 weeks late on making my write up but I'm going to go and "fully install" on the car this weekend so if you wait a few more days then there will be a complete how to on the subject.

  • Also for those that do brake calculation here is the info:

    Zenki Fronts:
    Front Piston Diameter - 60.6mm
    Front Piston number - 1/caliper
    Front Rotor Diameter - 10.79"

    Kouki Vented rears:
    Rear Piston Diameter - 42.8mm
    Rear Piston Diameter - 1/caliper
    Rear Rotor Diameter - 11.1"

I have the kouki fronts on a different computer. Ill have to find it.

  • More info I had bookmarked on freshalloy.com

    Stock 240sx non-ABS front brakes (CL22VB):
    - Single piston sliding caliper
    - 54.0mm piston diameter
    - 252mm diameter rotor
    - 45mm wide pad ('width' is the radial dimension of the pad, following the terminology in the FSM)
    - effective rotor diameter: 252-45 = 207
    - effective piston area: 54^2 x 2 (8
    - brake torque = 1535801.696

1988 z31 Turbo and NA uses a 15/16 BMC with a split point of 427psi.

    Examples:

    91 - 94 S13 240SX (all)
    7/8" BMC
    Split Point – 569psi

    If you have 1000 psi of line pressure, the fronts get 1000 psi, the rears get 569psi + (1000psi -569psi) * 0.4 = 741psi.

  • I finally got the write up for the WINFactory BBK for the z31

The WINFactory Z31 Big Brake Kit is perfect for the daily and light track use drivers. Features a 2 piece aluminum hat and 12" slotted GT rotor, which shaves 3 pounds off the rotating and bounce mass of each wheel. The kit also relocates the rotor to the outside of the hub for ease of maintenance. With the additional rotor size you will use less brake pedal pressure to stop the car and with the improved cooling vane design you will also notice less brake fade during hard braking use.

…All while still utilizing the stock caliper. Other options are available, call/email for inquiries.

    Kit includes:
    2 - 12" Wilwood rotors
    2 - Wilwood aluminum hats
    2 - Winfactory relocation brackets (1 left, 1 right)
10 - 8mm longer wheel studs to relocate the rotor to the outside.
    and Grade 10 mounting hardware!

$600 for the stock Z31 BBK upgrade.

Matt at 916.457.7062 or [email protected]

Best argument for this set up? It's complete .. you don't have to search around, looking for all the stuff/parts.
Can you (anyone) get a better deal? Yeah, if you want to take the time and effort to do so. Matt/Driven Authority will stand by his kit. You can assemble your own kit - develop your own bracket (one -off) .. but put a kit together for mass (so to speak) sale ..

This kit works for most people's needs (unless you plan on doing a lot of track/autoX time .. this kit will handle even the most agressive daily drivers)

Matt is looking at another upgrade to make along the lines of the Winfactory z32 upgrade kit .. which could reduce costs a bit more (economy of larger volume buys for the kit parts)
