  • You should be able to get these out of your local pick-n-pull junkyard for $200 or less, complete with diff and everything.

    S14 is not worth the added cost in my opinion. Not in a Z31 anyways.

    I have an S14 sub frame laying around in my backyard, which is why I am curious to know of any additional cost beyond acquiring the unit itself.

  • The s-14 has more width hub to hub. The mounting holes in the rear are slightly different but only slightly. People either stretch the factory bushings to make them fit or there are aftermarkets with the holes slightly offcenter.

    In discussions with 1SickZ when we were both doing this swap, I had less notching of the body to do then 1SickZ did. Whether this is because I used an S14 subframe vs his S13 subframe, or because I installed SPL arms instead of the arms he used, I'm not entirely sure.

    Considering my subframe has absolutely everything except for the diff itself (cables, shafts, rotors, brakes, etc…) I should just buy a diff and adjustable links. I have a JDM S14 subframe with the electronic hicas… not sure how it differs, but I think adjustment ability is better if you use an eliminator bar with adjustable rod hicas replacement links… or so I've been told.

    Maybe something to do in a year or two. My car can use a lot more work in other areas before I even go that far.

    If my rear shocks and springs take a crap, I'll start on this early…

    the S-13 I can pull out of pick and pull and its $200 for everything
    the S-14 I am having to get shipped and some of them wanted almost $1000 for the complete

    check anywhere that has front clips from japan land. they usually get cars shipped with the rear end. you could probably get an s15 rear end with vlsd and everything included for 1000… :-/

    Here are the parts I've used on driveshafts for the subframe swap. These are part#'s for Powertrain Industries https://www.powertrainindustries.com/catalogs.htm . It should be enough info to steer your local ds shop in the right direction so they can build you a shaft. Here it go.

    Slip Yokes
    30A: Part#3103-30

    1310 Spicer non-greaseable

    Pinion Flange

    S14: Part#3102-21
    Pretty sure all S-chassis are the same. Compare the measurements of this part and measurements on your diff pinion flange to make sure if it will fit.
