we will have another 10 of 50 boards ready this week.

after that i am waiting for USB Connector boards to arrive since I forgot to order some when getting all the bits .... doh!

those are going to be three weeks which will give us time to make all the connectors up for the remaining boards

I am currently looking into adding knock sensing detection and display into the firmware. I have found where the pulse and error flags get set in the code so just trying to see how the ECU uses them when pulling back timing. This way we can have a display for knock detection when it occurs

Also putting our documentation set together. Type 1 is for Z31

It also shows what the software in its current form is capable of

good stuff. try and keep the board in the pink anti static bubble wrap until you install in the ecu (as with any sentitive electronic components)l. we dont want a static spark to kill your board.... putting together a one sheet installation doc with this warning on it for future postings

Gee, I forgot about that static thing. THANKS. However, I did re-wrap it in
the pink bubble wrap after looking at it.

    QUESTIONS

NIStune_Type_1_Hardware_Installation.pdf does not specifically mention the
88 ECU is it the same as the 89?

My ECU has been modified by Jim Wolf Technology. See pictures below.
Are these red wire jumpers OEM or JWT? If they are JWT, do I need to
remove them for the NIStune board?

probably can start posting these questions on our forum

those modifications look like they have been done aftermarket (by JWT) however relate to the analogue circuitry

the instructions for 1988/89 are the same. you have a 4 pin header connector silkscreen there on the circuit board, suck the solder out of the four holes and solder the connector wire to this

remove the JWT chip and plug the board in here.... then fit the USB connector where the diag pot is and you should be set

if you want the JWT maps on your board, you will need to read it with an EPROM programmer and open it up and copy them across with the software

I'm currently having some difficulty with a 2002 Pathfinder's engine (my wife's car).
It has an intermittent hesitation at low RPM's and I would like to be able to get the CONSULT-II information when this problem occurs so I can possibly correct it.

    3 Questions:

    1. Are there any plans to develop NisTune to more recent Nissans like a 2002 Pathfinder (3.5 L) engine?

    2. If not, is there any reasonably priced scanner which will provide me with full Consult-II information?

    3. Is there a good internet forum for Pathfinders?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mark

We do support some Consult II serial ECUs using the standard PLMS consult interface … on the Nissan Patrol for example

Consult II on later model Nissans may use Consult II over CAN which were are only investigating at this stage. Martin and Peter are putting the board together and I will add the software support for the board in this application. However that is many months away before even prototypes will be available. NIStune has been in development for about 3 years so far

I'm taking microcontrollers this quarter and I have access to a programmer. Gary, if you send me the chip I can read it for you and send everything back to you on a CD (aswell as your chip of course). I'm just learning about all this stuff so it's kinda like homework for me. 8)

If you are having a specific problem with a board then email me directly, otherwise the forums can be used for general discussion (enhancement requests, queries etc)

The later versions of software required updated address files (for maptracing improvements, knock detection etc)

I know matt takes paypal. If you can't wait, I have an extra board for the late model single rom setups (86t, 87+). I also resocket the boards myself if anyone needs them done.

My curiosity has overcome my fear of being flamed to death:

Has anyone tried out the Nistune software on OS X? I'm Just trying to find out for future reference. I assume it can be made to work…

You'll need to use a win32 emulator or virtual pc setup with win32 running in it.
